Financial reports in Holded: what to review and how to extend reporting

Before extending reporting, review the information you actually have in Holded. Available functions and analytical quality depend on the plan, configuration and records maintained by each company. Not every account provides the same starting point.

Review your current reports

Check which accounting and invoicing views you use, which periods you can compare and what detail your configuration supports. Validate totals with the accounting team. The aim is not to replace everything, but to identify management questions that remain unanswered.

Define the missing questions

Do you need to explain margin changes, compare results with budget or understand which customers delay payment? Prioritise questions that affect real decisions. A short, stable list is often more useful than a dashboard containing dozens of metrics without owners.

Distinguish profit, invoicing and cash

An issued invoice, recognised revenue and a cash receipt are not equivalent. Review timing, outstanding invoices and cash movements before interpreting performance. Mixing these concepts can imply liquidity that the business does not yet have.

Check the quality of detail

For customer, project or category analysis, verify that records contain those fields consistently. Incomplete classifications should be disclosed as a limitation rather than turned into profitability conclusions.

When a reporting layer helps

An additional layer can help with recurring management models, consistent comparisons and explanations currently prepared manually. Agree account mappings, metrics and reconciliations first. Another tool cannot fix incomplete accounting on its own.
